The Aging Brain (6 CEU’s)
After completing this program participants will be able to:
• List the major characteristics of individuals who have healthy and long lives.
• Describe the changes that occur in a health aging brain.
• Outline the effects of aging on the cycles and stages of sleep and list the sleep disorders that increase with advantages age.
• Define human memory and state the changes that occur in memory functioning with normal and abnormal aging.
• Describe the common dementias, including the stages and treatments for Alzheimer’s Disease.
• Cite the common risk factors for heart disease, stroke, and, Alzheimer’s Disease.
• List the lifestyle choices under our control that may reduce the risk of developing Alzheimer ’s Disease.
• Describe, for this course, the implications for dentistry, mental health, and other health professionals.
