Multicultural Ethics- October 2, 20009 8:30AM-12:00PM
Workshop that will examine various world views from a multicultural perspective, review basic principles of cultural competence, example ethical dilemmas that emerge within context and present an interactional model for ethical decision making applicable to clinical settings. Participants will enhance their understanding of the diverse environment, increase their ability to interact effectively with individuals of different cultures and develop skills in using systematic model for ethical decision making.
Two Worlds, One Life: Cultural Dynamics In the South Asian Community- October 23, 2009
Focus will be on mental health needs of clients from India and Pakistan and the Diasporas. A psychodynamic frame of reference will be used in discussing conflicts and resolution inherent in inter-and intra-personal relationships. Participants will become familiar with culturally proficient clinical practices, effective interventions, and knowledgeable about available resources for this community.
Working In Multicultural Contexts: What Do We Need To Know? - November 20, 2009.This workshop will equip participants with contemporary research findings that can inform effective clinical work and practical tools for assessing and treating clients from diverse backgrounds.
