Promoting African American Male Academic Achievement Workshop Date: Saturday, November 13, 2010 Time: 9:00 am - 1:00p.m. Registration 8:30-9:00 4 CEU Clock Hours Available African American males face formidable challenges to their educational achievement. There is a serious stifling of aspiration and pride on the part of many African American male youth from kindergarten through college. African American males tend to experience significant alienation from the educational process. Indications of massive educational failure on the part of African males can be found in school systems across the country. Such failure often begins as early as the third grade, with many African American males either dropping out or being pushed out of school for behavioral problems by the seventh grade. This troubling situation calls for aggressive action by educators.
